Background[] A video explaining the story behind Burning Bridges was posted on OneRepublicVEVO's YouTube channel on March 25, 2013. Ryan Tedder explains that it was originally written on guitar in Denver, before being adapted in New York with Benny Blanco. They band regard it as their pub or last call song, and imagine intoxicated people singing it as bars close. To get this effect, thirty to fourty people provide vocals on the track. OneRepublic - Something I Need (Track By Track) At the Hollywood Bowl on June 5, 2014, Tedder explained more about Something I Need: I'm not a good sleep, historically, and so one night I literally woke up right after I turned 30... and I had this kind of panic attack. "Oh my God, I'm like over a third of the way to whatever and this is freaking me out."
